Baseball predictions!

It’s 5:04 p.m. in Lakewood, Ohio. The baseball season starts in 174 minutes, with the Braves and Phillies, although Opening Day is Monday. (I hate this Sunday night crap.)

After my success last season, when I famously predicted the Rays would make all kinds of noise (but didn’t REALLY say it), how could I resist predicting this season?

Fact: The Yankees will miss the playoffs.
Fact: The American League Central and West freaking stink.
Fact: The Pirates will not finish last in the National League Central.
Fact: I still hate the Cubs.

Without further adieu:

American League
East

Red Sox
Rays
Yankees
Orioles

Central

Indians
Twins
White Sox
Tigers

West
Angels
A’s
Rangers
Mariners

National League

Phillies
Mets
Braves

Reds
Pirates
Brewers
Astros

West

Diamondbacks

Mehtinks you're giving the Tribe too much credit. No one knows it yet, but thye're going to have among the worst starting rotations in baseball this year. Cliff Lee's going to be paying the piper all year for his freakish '08. The bullpen probably isn't going to be much better once you get past Rafael Perez and Kerry Wood (when healthy).

The Tigers and Indians, along with their crappy pitching staffs, will be stapled to the bottom of the AL Central this year.

I presume you'll rub it in my face if Lee tanks, as I said they should have signed him long-term when they could? Ouch.

Speaking of, let's get a plan for some games together.

I'm all in favor of signing Lee longterm, but probably better off when he comes back to Earth and rejoins his regularly-scheduled programming as a middle of the rotation starter.

Let's try to get to a game sometime in April.
